Legendary Anna Piaggi Dead at 81 -
by George 13 Walters, 7 August, 2012 -
Fashion journalist and Vogue Italia Editor Anna Piaggi died today, August 7, 2012 at the age of 81. Ms Piaggi was one of the most influential people in the fashion world during a good portion of the 20th century. I have no doubt she will be remembered as one of the most original electic fashion and avant garde style icons of her time. Her wardrobe is reported to contain over 2,500 dresses, 200 pair of shoes and an amazing 900 plus outrageous hats. She supposedly was never seen in public wearing the same outfit twice. Her entire career was notable having been a writer for several Italian fashion magazines but definitely her most influential position was as the Editor for Vogue Italia the past 28 years. Anna Piaggi and her eccentric style has been a known inspiration to Karl Lagerfeld for the past several years among other top designers. I’m confident that she will be remembered and missed by hundreds if not thousands of people around the world whose lives she touched and influenced. Ms Piaggi, may you R.I.P.
